Not lame enough, trot work and eating the garden!
So after Tilly's last lameness work out and xrays it was decided that the suspensorys were coming along nicely but there was also foot pain in both front feet. The next step was to get Barry to look at the xrays and discuss with Joe how to shoe her to see if any improvement could be made. So two shoeings later and a house move and lots of power walking (no leisurely hacking with Tilly!) I took the above video. After Joe had watched it we decided that she is not lame enough to be able to nerve block into the foot (this was the next step, to determine where the pain was located) so I am to begin trotting her on her hacks and build it up to 15 minutes a day in the mext month. Obviously I will monitor her very carefully and if she shows any lameness then Joe will come and see her. We will then wait until she has been shod again and she will go for another trip to Rathmell where she will have more xrays to compare to the last ones.
It is so nice to be able to hack her out again and the hacking is so lovely here with views of the lakes, the fells and the sea. I huge difference from our one and only hack at Nateby.....the one where you dodged death every time you made it back in one piece!! I have done three minutes of trot work this morning and will increase it slowly as the month progresses.
As a little treat I untacked Tilly in the garden (used to be caravan site) and let her graze for 10 minutes before putting her in her stable for the day. She loved it!!
On a slightly different note we have had some flowers from the Methodist church this week to welcome us to the village and someone else posted a little village mag through the door yesterday. Also it is the village show on 10th Sept and we are being encourage to enter a class.....jam, plums, homemade doorstops!!!!!!! Watch this space!!
