Solo hacking, wishful thinking and Jam and Crumble!!

This was the scene that greeted the boyz and I this morning on the way back from our walk.  Three girls in bed!  I fed them their daily rosehips while they were in bed and left them to their lie in!
Since my last blog I have managed to do quite a lot of hacking with Tilly and the trot work is coming along well.  She seems to be coping and staying sound which is all good news.  She lost a hind shoe last week but I still hacked in the morning with three wheels, it was slightly less noisy so the people that say I hack too early may not have heard us clippity clopping past...can you believe it!!  Barry couldn't believe how much the shoe had worn down as he is not used to me hacking so much!
Mez has been out hacking with Millie to keep her company....so much for her to look at as the ONLY hack she has ever done is round the block at Nateby.  She is getting much braver now and does really enjoy it so hopefully we will be able to venture out on our own before long.

Alex and Millie went for their first solo hack on Sunday, just round the triangle and everything was fine.

I have been working Mez in the 'school' aswell just to prove to myself that I can still canter!  I think we are going to enter the dressage at Myerscough at the end of September to try and get fully qualified for the Pet Plan festival in October.  We have got the Novice sorted and just need one more score of 62% or more at Prelim so I can then enter two classes.  It will be very interesting to see how she has coped with very little schooling.
The jumps had fallen over in the wind so on my way back from our walk this morning I put them back up to Tilly height to reminds us that we used to be able jump them and hopefully will be able to again in the future!  Seems a long way away at the moment.......

Yesterday we brought the babies into the barn as since we have moved they have been a little bit feral!  I have played with them daily but they have not been into the stables in the barn at all since the day we arrived here.  Kirkby obviously was a bit upset that the feng shui was not right for him but he soon settled down when he found the haylage.  He seems to have grown another hand since he was in last!  He'll be too big for me at this rate......too far to fall off!
Maisey couldn't really care less as long as she has got food....takes after Millie no end!
Millie seems to be on a hunger strike and is refusing to take her medicine!  She will not take anything that I give her and now tips her feed on the floor too.  Joe has said to just feed her nice food for a week and then try some jam sarny's........good job I made lots of plum jam the other day then!  How domesticated I can hear you all saying!!!  Plums picked from the garden and then made into Jam and blackberries from the field made into crumble......loads of each left in the freezer too.  The horses are loving the blackberries in the hedges although we do have to pick them for them first!!!!

  1. I love that first photo :) I'm glad Tilly's improving well and I hope her recovery keeps on as good as it is.
